On November 15, 1924, The Aubrey Argus advertised the featured advertisement from the Security State Bank, the Aubrey Light and Water Company and the Aubrey Drug Store.

The front page of the newspaper had an article about the upcoming school election, which follows (Note that Leroy Phillips is still alive):

School Tax ElectionAn election will be held in and for Aubrey Independent school district on Tuesday, December 9, at the show building. This election is for the purpose of deciding whether or not the tax rate for school purposes shall be raised or not. In order to get state aid the rate must be raised. In order to have a good school we must have state aid, so everyone having the welfare of the school, the town and the community at heart will vote for the increase. In this case we are increasing the rate for our own benefit. By making the rendition smaller, the tax will be about the same, even though the rate be some higher. There is nothing that Aubrey needs more than a good school and in this election we will have an opportunity of deciding whether or not we will have one. We cannot afford to vote against the school.

The following local news was also reported on the first page:

Judge W.L. Holman was in Denton on business Tuesday.

Mrs. Beulah Jones has moved her stock of Millinery from over Burke’s garage to her home in the southeast part of town.

Rev. Pryor was at Grand Prairie this week and finding his father-in-law, Mr. R.N. Glenn, quick sick, he proceeded to make himself useful by gathering corn and doing other needed farm work.

On the back page of the newspaper, the following article reported a bank robbery:

Bank Robbers Visit AubreyTwo men with more nerve than good sense attempted to enter the Security State Bank, Thursday night. They ripped a hole in the screen at a north window, put their hand through the hole and unfastened the screen. At this stage of the game, Nightwatchman, E.C. Powell, who objects to people doing business at the bank except during regular business hours, showed his disapproval by shooting at them a couple of times. Finding that they could not transact their business at the bank without outside interference they departed, leaving no address. Consequently we may never know whether they wanted to make a deposit, pay a note, or merely borrow a few thousand without security – presumably the latter.
