The Cherokee tribe had a very good meeting this past
Saturday in Aubrey. Attending this meeting was the chief of the
Cherokee tribe of the entire State of Texas. One of the Cherokee
Nation of Texas’s goals is for the tribe to be officially recognized
by the federal government as one of the Native American tribes that is
still active in the State of Texas. The Cherokee alphabet was invented
and mastered by the Cherokee Chief Sequogh and the present Texas
Nation Chief Hicks. He explained to us on Saturday how the remains of
this important leader were discovered and are located on a ranch in
what is now Eagle Pass, Texas.
